The Syracuse Pops Chorus is a group of highly skilled volunteers who sing for the joy of it. The repertoire consists largely of new choral arrangements of old standards: patriotic anthems, holiday favorites, Broadway and movie music, and songs from the American Songbook.
The chorus was originally formed as the Syracuse Symphony Pops Chorus in 2004, when Director Emeritus,
Lou Lemos, was asked by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra to assemble a chorus for a concert of John Williams’ music, subsequently performing many more concerts with the SSO, Symphoria, and The Syracuse Orchestra, in addition to performing its own full-length concerts throughout Central New York.

We rehearse at St. David's Episcopal Church, 14 Jamar Drive, Fayetteville, NY. Rehearsals are from 7- 9 p.m. on Wednesday evenings for approximately six weeks before a scheduled performance (in other words, not year-round).

INTERIM DIRECTOR & ACCOMPANIST
David J. Rudari, D.M.A.
David Rudari is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Ensembles Emeritus at Onondaga Community College (2024). A native of Syracuse,
Dr. Rudari earned a Music Education degree from the School of Music at
the State University of New York at Fredonia, the Master of Music in Voice Performance from the College of Arts and Sciences, Division of Music at the University of Wyoming, and the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Voice
Performance from the College of Creative Arts, West Virginia University.
An active Recitalist, Concert Soloist, Guest Conductor, Adjudicator, and Church Musician, Dr. Rudari has prepared and conducted Community and Collegiate Choirs for performances of multiple large choral works,
including the Messiah, the Requiem settings of Mozart, Fauré, Brahms, Rutter, and Duruflé, Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven), Mass in B Minor (Bach), Gloria (Poulenc), African Sanctus (Fanshawe), Five Mystical Songs (Vaughan Williams), Mass in G, and Magnificat (Schubert), The Seven Last Words (Dubois), and St. Cecilia Mass (Gounod).
He served as Conductor of the Community Arts Orchestra of Morgantown, WV, from 1996-2000; as assistant conductor for the North Country Music Society (1990-1995); and as Guest Conductor for many regional Festival Choruses in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.
In 2018, Dr. Rudari received both the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Faculty Service, and the Civic Morning Musicals Paul F. and Veronica M. Abel Award for Outstanding Contributions in Choral Music.
Steven D. Uhl, M.M.
Steven D. Uhl is a native of Baldwinsville, New York. He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Music from Onondaga Community College (Class of 1989), where
he studied piano with Dr. Kevin Moore; the Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam as a student of Dr. Clive Henery (Harpsichord) and Prof. Frank Ioga (piano). He earned the Master of Music in Organ Performance from the School of Music at Ithaca College as a student of Dr. William Greene.
Mr. Uhl retired in 2025 from his position as a faculty member at the Baldwinsville Central School District, where he taught Vocal and Choral Music at Ray Middle School. He also taught Music Theory and conducted
the Treble Choir at Baker Senior High School.
Prior to his service in Baldwinsville, he served on the music faculties of the Penn Yan (Middle School) and Marcus Whitman (Junior/Senior High) school districts. Mr. Uhl also served as Adjunct Professor of Music, Director of the College Chorale, and college organist at the forty-two rank 1964 Schlicker Organ at Keuka College, holding the positions of Director of the College Chorale and College Organist. For ten years, he conducted the Penn Yan Community Chorus, and served as Accompanist and Music Director for the Pennsylvania Yankee Theatre Company.
